Malia is a beginner software developer based in San Diego, California. Malia worked as a Research Associate and then as a Research Project Manager on an artificial intelligence team at HP Inc.


After working in the tech industry alongside software and machine-learning engineers, Malia realized she wanted to learn more about coding. She gained beneficial exprience in Python on the job but desired to expand her coding skillset.


Malia is studying fullstack software development through UC Berkeley's Extension Coding Bootcamp. The bootcamp curriculum covers JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, C#, MySQL, and more. This program ends in Spring 2023 and Malia is excited to get back to the workforce with techincal coding knowledge so she can successfully lead engineers as a TPM at a SAAS company.

Responsibilities:


  • Managed team of global researchers and collaborated with 7 AI team members.
  • Lead daily scrum meetings, sprint planning, and sprint reviews.
  • Oversaw 7 research projects from conception to execution to analysis.
  • Represented HP Inc. during meetings with 3rd party research labs to establish research goals and understand results.

Research Associate | Omnicept AI


Responsibilities:

  • Manage data collection on B2B virtual reality headsets in 3 global locations.
  • Collaborate with machine learning engineers, software developers, and key business stakeholders to establish research priorities.
  • Utilize basic Python programming to pull and organize data from over 1,000 participants

  • Python and Jupyter Notebook to organize thousands of biometric data.
